Danny, I have read both books. The following are my opinions.

 “Collision Collusion”

“I give Danny a lot of credit for taking on a huge task of compiling and researching a lot of material and condensing it in to an easy to read book. This book is a must have for lawyers, forensic engineers, consumer advocates, body shop personnel who must deal with the litigation of and repair of collision damage vehicles and the costs involved. This is a no holds barred tell the truth book on the issues in the collision repair and automobile insurance industry. This book is a must read before heading in to litigation. I highly recommend it.”

“Signs of a Wreck”

“This book is an excellent introduction to what is a good and what is a bad collision repair and what to look for. I would highly recommend this book to lawyers in the automotive litigation field, consumers, forensic engineers and especially body-shop personnel who can use this book to further their knowledge and as a training book to educate their clients, the vehicle owners. This book also shows the importance of finding an expert to review and conduct a post repair inspection.”

Please feel free to use my above comments.

Thanks,

Dear Danny:

Have reviewed Both Collision Collusion and Signs of a Wreck ... BOTH are outstanding ...

Collision Collusion ...

This is an accurate expose on the relationship that exists between Auto Insurers and their DRP repair shops ... From my 40+ years experience in this arena, it is a true depiction of the extent to which insurers leverage their influence over the repair process ... This volume SHOULD be included in the Reference Library of any attorney that has to deal with auto insurance physical damage claims related issues.

Signs of a Wreck ...

This volume documents what, to the trained eye, are obvious "Signs of a Wreck" ... However, few consumers are equipped with a "Trained eye" ... For those potential buyers, having this volume to refer to will enable the average consumer to avoid making an Enormously Expensive Mistake ... Parents should have this book in their personal library to empower themselves (and members of their family) when auto buying decisions are being considered.

Well Done ... Son !

"Just got done reading this book. Great information and true. The auto industry and the insurance indurstry "REALLY" need to sit down at the "Round" table and discuss business. To put people ahead of profit. Thanks Danny for taking the time to put this book together. As a member of collision repair, we don't put grass clipping in a bag, we put people back into vehicles. They need to be repaired correctly."

Danny,

I am also really enjoying the book of pictures about how to scope out sub-standard repairs.

All around an excellent pair of books.

I would like to see a hundred million of us get informed about what these miserable greedy insurance companies are doing.

I really hope you do extremely well in sales--you deserve it!

Sincerely,

Danny,

I've read it through three times and the court opinions and decisions twice.  I have some questions on the limits of liability that you are emphasizing. I believe that is the focus of your argument if I read it correctly. I am sure I have discussed most of the content or heard it discussed in forums, at CCRE meetings, and on CrashTalk. As an insider and someone who is pro-consumer, I get it.  I have always been told if you want to explain something foreign or contrary to one's beliefs and understandings, you have to speak to them like they are a Martian as they have no basis of knowledge in what you are speaking. I think this book may come off that way to people outside our industry or those even inside who haven't got a clue to know what business is like not being connected at the hip with insurers.  I've been at this pro-consumer awareness and studied a little legal analysis for about five to seven years now, and some things I am just now gaining clarity on. It's frustrating  wanting to help people and having restrictions in just how far you can help them and explain to them what we know is happening. We sound like the huge minority most of the time and it's an uphill treacherous battle when we're out on a limb in our various parts of the country all by ourselves. I remember the first time I saw everyone arguing on Pro-Discussions about WreckCheck and the heated arguments, and I didn’t get it then.  Jim Lynas and I talked several times and he told me that I wasn't ready to run with the big dogs (my words) yet, but that day would come and I think I am almost there with a good understanding of the issues in your book. I don't anything that I would change or anything else you could have added. I think it is about as concise a picture on our industry from our view as there is at the present time.

Congratulations again on having the gumption to take on the task and complete it.

Danny,

The topic(s) make me crazy. My wife has hidden the book on me because I start ranting at the dinner table!

To be honest, I haven’t completed it yet. I will try and read it tonight and shoot you an email tomorrow.

Thank you,

Michael

Danny this is an awesome book! I printed and read it on my way to Fort Dix.
Looks like your book will open many eyes to the reality of vehicles!

They may not tell you so I will. I got it. I have only spent 20 sec page jumping, but It is awesome, great quality photos and text. I have been wanting to produce something like that for a long while. I can't wait to see it all. I want to buy copies of this book for the office and as a gift to the Attorney General’s office.

Danny,

Thank you for sharing a PDF copy of your book, Signs of a Wreck.   I skimmed through it and I like it.  I am not sure how we might use it, but I will talk to Mike when he returns.  Also, just a thought, and you have probably already done this, but this would be a great Continuing Education seminar for your local community college—especially for senior citizens or teenagers!
Thanks again!

I've read Danny's handbook on identifying prior damage to a motor vehicle and think it should be required reading for all automobile/truck dealers who sell used vehicles. As Danny notes, the vast majority of all dealerships are owned and managed by honest, ethical and hard-working individuals. In addition, in the vast majority of cases, it is never the intent of the dealership to intentionally sell or offer for sale a vehicle that has sustained prior damage. Not only must one consider whether an optimal repair was made but also whether the vehicle is safe and structurally sound.

Additionally, common wisdom dictates that a vehicle with repaired damage is worth less than an identical one that has never sustained damage.

Accordingly, the unknowing buyer may be paying more for the vehicle than what it would subsequently bring upon re-sale when that damage is discovered. Good and honest dealers believe in the golden rule and this handbook can help to prevent an honest mistake that could lead to customer dissatisfaction, regulatory action or even serious litigation.

For individual purchasers of used vehicles, I believe having this handbook and making note of Danny's hints and clues can save an individual hundreds and thousands of dollars and inordinate amounts of aggravation, discontent and negativity. A must-read for dealers and consumers alike!
